BIO
Tsakane Sono is a vibrant, compassionate and hard-working young woman that is passionate about serving her community. I am a mental health Occupational Therapist based at Mofolo clinic in Soweto.
I am also currently in my second year of studying part-time towards my Masters in Occupational Therapy.
My passion for community and advocating for the less fortunate have led me to volunteer for YUGA Cares (a youth outreach program) and the Baragwanath Hospital Comforts Committee.
I realized pageants are strong platforms to create positive change in society. I hold the first ever title for Miss Egoli which led me to start an Instagram series called “Chats With Tsakane Sono” where different guests are hosted to address issues in society.
I believe that my ability to embrace who I truly am, live in my power and be self-aware makes me unique. I focus on becoming a better version of myself for myself and the world around me rather than competing to be better than others.
To me, winning Miss Soweto goes beyond reaching my dreams or desires, it is about inspiring other people to also believe in the power that lives inside of them and know that a “yes” from oneself is the most powerful “yes” you can ever receive.
